Today we were planning to ride the so-called “Weston loop”. But it didn’t quite go to plan! The crossing at Banwell river in Sand Bay was undergoing some significant construction work and the signposted “footpath diversion” basically just took us straight up to the top of Sand Point. Not a diversion at all, more of a completely different route. We rode along the top of Sand Point and eventually gave in to the steps down to the car park as the easiest way down. After a quick pint at the Commodore Hotel, we decided to go for the rest of the loop and headed back out to West Wick and the full length of route 33 back to town. The last leg along on the prom was familiar, but like the idiot slalom again! I was glad to be home. Ache a bit, but it was a lovely sunny day and we managed nearly 23 miles.
